The history of the Ribera del Duero has always been linked to the vineyard and the wine, to the fruit of some vines that mark its landscape, the personality of its people and its culture.
In the Vacceo site of Pintia, in the term of Padilla de Duero, district of Peñafiel, the first residues that refer to the presence of wine in the area, confirming that 2,500 years ago wine was consumed, at least in sufficiently significant quantities.
The first record that is collected in the books of the Regulatory Council dates from July 23, 1980. Two years later, on July 21, 1982, the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food granted the Ribera del Duero the Denomination of Origin and approved its first Regulation.
Since then, the implementation of new cultivation practices, the introduction of the most modern technologies for the production of wine and the rigorous control processes applied by the Regulatory Council have made the Ribera del Duero a synonym of quality and prestige.
